Invoicing tips for freelancers
- Always include a due date and your accepted payment methods (bank transfer, PayPal, Wise) to avoid back-and-forth.
- Use a sequential invoice number (INV-0001, INV-0002…) so both you and your client can reference invoices later.
- State late-payment terms in the notes, e.g. “Payment due within 14 days; 2% late fee thereafter.”

- Do freelancers need to charge tax on invoices?
- It depends on your country and registration status. If you are registered for VAT/GST/sales tax, add the correct rate in the Tax field. If not, leave it at 0 and note that tax is not applicable.
- How do I invoice for hourly work?
- Add a line item describing the work, set the quantity to the number of hours, and put your hourly rate in the price field. The total is calculated automatically.
